Wow, Beast Mode:ON with this spectacular and stylish Samurai movie. The fighting scenes were wonderfully choreographed as you would expect from a Miike movie. Violent yes, brutal even at times, but somehow beautiful too. Loved it.

If you've seen Takashi Miike 13 Assassins than you know what kind of ride you are in for. Over the top violence, buckets of blood, over the top acting, great fighting choreography, meaty sound effects, and pretty good cinematography. You can tell they tried to fit in as much as possible of the story. I wish they turned it into two parts so we got more back story on all the cool characters. At times characters do things that make you yell at the screen but I mean if this was real life it would be over pretty quick. The pacing is pretty good, slows down towards the middle act but picks up at the end. Very Takashi Miike like. If you are a fan of the manga/anime you wont be to disappointed. If you are coming in this this blind and just want a bloody Samurai film you will be pleased with this one. I would love to see a sequel that explores more of the characters in this world. Its a fun ride. If you enjoy it be sure to check out 13 Assassins which is based more in reality...well as much as it can be. A solid 7/10 for me.

Fan of the anime here and this live action version is great! Good production values, solid acting, gruesome choreography, excellent camera work (loved many of the long, unbroken shots) and nice score too. Not only does this capture the anime, it also has an awesome old-time samurai vibe going on. Recommended!

Wow, if you like Quentin Tarrentino style, then this is right up your street. Excellent Sword and (sort of) Sorcery from the Orient.

Best samauri flick in years! It has the feel of the gorier classics (lone wolf and cub, for example). Also, it’s now in my top 5 Takashi Miike movies (Ishi the killer is still#1). Must see for lovers of the genre! 9/10 from me. BTW: don’t take this movie too seriously!! It’s full of cultural in-jokes and genre self-parody, not to mention Takashi Miike’s own weird humor.

flawless poem of a movie. my only pet peeve was when the 2 immortals are stabbing each other it sounds like they fart for a second. on the other hand and in contrast to this movie you can watch the god of war and compare the chinese and japanese cultures; also more in this style of movie you will dig shogun assasin <( its more or less this with a little wu tang mixed in). if you want something more esau like check out valhala rising. other than that thor ragnarok was absolute disney entertainment.

Any fans of the Shaw Brothers Films will love this, whether they've read the manga or not. It's entertainingly bloody, violent and full of marvelous mayhem. If you're looking for a story driven movie keep on looking, otherwise enjoy this brutally satisfying action drama.

There has not been a Great Samurai movie since the days of Shintaro Katsu & Tomisaboru Wakayama,. but this gives you that feeling of Nostalgia . Its really Amazing Finally That this Film can live up to those Great Legends with Its Story line.

I dig the bloodthirsty chop-socky theater. Though I like the anime version even more.

Whether or not immortal, be it the anime series or the movie I remain a fan.

I love the manga, but the best I can say for this movie is, it was pretty, and had well choreographed fight scenes, but the plot itself was really sort of all over the place and a incoherent at times. The manga is way better if you want to know the story of Blade of the Immortal without feeling like they crammed too many things into one short movie. Here's hoping they make it into an anime(one that tells the entire story).
